Submitting Governance Proposals

Voting power in the Token Metrics DAO is now determined by the average $TMAI token holdings over a 7-day period. Users with higher average token holdings have more influence in governance decisions.

Rewards for Voting

Users earn token rewards for participating in governance based on their average $TMAI token holdings. The more you participate and the higher your average holdings, the greater your chances of earning rewards for helping to improve Token Metrics.

Voting Process

  • Proposals are voted on in the order they are submitted.
  • The voting period for each proposal is 7 days.
  • Each token holder can vote once, with a yes or no for each proposal. Voters can change their vote up until the voting period ends.
  • If a proposal passes, the parameters will update automatically within 7 days on-chain.

Requirements for a Proposal to Pass:

  • Quorum: At least 25% of all token holders must vote for the proposal to be valid.
  • Vote Threshold: The number of "YES" votes must exceed "NO" votes by at least 10%.
  • Approval: If a proposal meets these criteria within 24 hours of submission, it will be approved and executed within another 24 hours.

Gasless Voting Mechanism:

  • Voting is done off-chain using the EIP-712 standard, eliminating the need for gas fees.
  • All voting transactions are collected and submitted to the Base network in batches.
  • Once voting is complete, any user can submit the final transaction to the Base network for execution.

Voting Power

  • Voting power is shown in voting points (VP).
  • VP is equivalent to the user's average $TMAI token holdings over the past 7 days.
  • Voting power scales with average token holdings, allowing users with higher balances to have a greater say in governance decisions.
